Sciences, Christians, Some, deny, accept

Why do Christians accept some sciences but deny other sciences?

They have faith in microwaves, cars, planes, computers (obviously) when science tells them the dangers of smoking, drugs, alcohol. But they deny when science tells them the age of the Earth, the validity of the Shroud of Turin, about how humans evolved etc.

Why do they blindly follow some sciences which they don't understand (how many Christians understand how a jet airplane works or how the internet works on a whole?), but then think they turn around and think know everything about science and deny other sciences?

Is it mass delusion or mass arrogance?

They are used to picking and choosing how to use bible verses. It comes naturally.
